I was going to link to the article, but I became more and more intrigued by the Digg comments. Maybe it shouldn’t be illegal, but it is. It’s amazing how many Digg users completely ignore that or rationalize it away.

    It’s illegal to go 5 mph over the speed limit, but a cop may just pull you and tell you to slow down. Arresting this guy with no warning is outrageous. I know ignorance is no excuse, but a $400 fine!
    Neither the police officer nor the cafe owner knew what he was doing was illegal. Just ask him not to do it anymore and move on. If I am that man, I am making sure that city does not get any more taxes out of me.

    digg = mob-mentality

    and i’m happy to be a part of that mob! 🙂

    obviously this cop has never seen a day of real police work in his career.
    talk about a glorified meter maid. i can guarantee that he had to get out his criminal codes and procedure manual to look up that kind of violation. what a joke. plus, since it’s a felony, the DA has to do something with it…they can’t just brush it away. so the guy got stuck with a minor fine (for a felony).
